Summary of the Revelation of Jesus Christ

The first word in this writing is Apocalypse, which is a Greek word usually translated into English as "revelation" and it refers to something that is uncovered or revealed, as though removing a veil to expose what had previously been hidden. This word is only written once by John in this writing, which contains various revelations about many events and prophecies constituting the whole book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ - the apocalypse.

John was one of Jesus' learning-disciples (students), and as we read, we will clearly see that the Lord Jesus Christ revealed this prophetic information to John so that...

  • not only the holy-people (Christians) living during this age
  • but also the people living during the next age
    • (the next age will be between the gathering-together of all holy-people away from the earth and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ back on earth)

...will be able to read and understand what the Lord Jesus Christ is doing now and what he will do in the future with reference to the realm of mankind and the spirit realm.

The following is a summary of the effects or events that take place from John’s viewpoint as he receives the revelation covering the last days and the end of the world as we know it today - the end times.

  • Revelation 1:1-3
    • Introduction

John introduces this writing (book) with an explanation of where the information originated from. It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ (the information that has been uncovered or revealed pertaining-to and proceeding-from Jesus Christ)...

  • which God gave to Jesus Christ (God was the ultimate source of this information; Jesus Christ received it from God his Father)
    • to point-out to His slaves (to God's bond-servants, the people serving in the capacity of being slaves from the working or service relationship viewpoint),
      • regarding the things which are necessary to happen in quickness (once these things begin they will occur with speed, swiftly),

...and Jesus Christ signified (gave the signal or sign) - how? - as follows...

  • he apostled (he sent these things forth/away)
    • through his angel (by way of his angel – this angel assisted with the signs that Jesus Christ signified)
  • to his slave John (John was Jesus Christ's bond-servant in the working or service category during the time of receiving this revelation),
    • who witnessed (John attested with information as detailed in this writing)
      • the word of/from God (the spoken-account of God's inner thoughts - the word that God gave to Jesus Christ)
      • and the witness of/from Jesus Christ (the attestation pertaining-to and proceeding-from him; the witness that Jesus Christ gave to John via his angel)
    • as much as John saw.

John wrote this writing which is prophecy - information originally from God via Jesus Christ concerning the past, present and/or future, which John received to speak-forth to people and which he wrote down in this writing.

Happy is the person who is reading and the people who are hearing the words of the prophecy, and keeping (observing) the things that are written in the prophecy of this writing. Why? In truth, the specific time detailed in this writing is close.

Several of the events prophesied have already occurred, and the judgments prophesied to/for the angels and their churches by the Lord Jesus Christ have been implemented - but the final judgment and implementation is still future to us today, as recorded in Revelation chapters 19 and 20.

Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 1:4 - chapter 3
    • Present Earth

John addresses this writing to the seven churches in Asia. He greets them with grace and peace from God, and from the seven spirits which are in the sight and presence of God's throne, and from...

  • Jesus Christ who is
    • the witness (the one who bears witness, attests to the information and knowledge that he has),
    • the believer (the one who is faithful),
    • the firstborn of dead-people (Jesus Christ is the first and only human-being at this point in time whom God has made-alive by giving him his spiritual body, and the resurrected Christ will never die),
    • and the ruler of the kings of the earth (the one being chief ruling those who reign as kings over certain portions of the earth/land).

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming with the clouds and every eye will see him, and the people who stabbed him, and all the tribes/clans of the earth will demonstrate their extreme grief on account of him.

The Lord God says that He (Himself) is...

  • the Alpha (this is the name of the first letter of the Greek alphabet - figuratively referring to God being the Beginning or the First One)
  • and the Omega (this is the name of the last letter of the Greek alphabet - figuratively referring to God being the End or the Last/Final One)"
  • the One being
  • and the One Who used-to-be
  • and the One coming
  • the All-Strong-One (God is the One being totally strong, having all strength, every superiority and dominion in exerted force, almighty in relation to us whom He has created).

John was in the island called Patmos in the Aegean sea and he received this revelation via his holy spirit-life relative to the period of time when the action associated with the Lord Jesus Christ is occurring – the Lordly day when the Lord Jesus Christ is exercising his rulership, glory, and strongness (this phrase is not referring to "Sunday").

John is told that what he observes by revelation he must send to the 7 churches in the west area of Asia Minor (modern Turkey) - into Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

John describes the Lord Jesus Christ as he saw  him in this revelation and Jesus explains to John that he is living (alive) and that he now has the keys of the death and the gravedom. He also explains that the mystery (secret) of the seven stars which John saw on Jesus' right hand and the 7 golden lamp-stands is as follows:

  • the seven stars are in comparison to (they represent)
    • angels assigned to the seven churches,
  • and the seven lamp-stands are in comparison to (they represent)
    • seven churches.

Then in chapters 2 and 3, John writes the information for the 7 angels of the 7 churches. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation chapters 4 and 5
    • Heaven

John continues writing about events occurring during the past, the present, and the future - but in chapters 4 and 5 the events take place in heaven (not on earth as chapters 2 and 3).

John saw a door that was opened in the heaven and a throne lying there, and God was sitting down on this throne. He writes many other details including that around God's throne he saw twenty four (24) thrones with twenty four elders sitting down. Also there were four living-beings full of eyes in front and behind and were like a lion, a calf, the face as a man, and a flying eagle.

Revelation chapter 5 continues with John seeing a book that was written on both sides (front and back) and it was sealed with seven seals on the right hand of God sitting down on the throne. These 7 different seals were ensuring that the book is secure and only opened by the one who is authorized to open the seals.

John then saw a strong angel proclaiming loudly: "Who is worthy to open the book and to loose (unbind, unfasten, release, untie) its seals?" However, during that period of time nobody (no animal, bird, etc, human, or spirit) had the capability to open the book nor to contemplate its contents.

While John was crying because there was none worthy found at any location to open the book nor to observe it, one from the elders told him not to cry because the lion originating from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, was victorious to open the book and its seven seals. The usage of the word "lion" when referring to the Lord Jesus Christ by this elder emphasizes the viewpoint of victory and completion of what was required by God for redemption and salvation.

Next, John perceived in the middle of the throne and the four living-beings, and in the middle of the elders...

  • a little lamb standing (a small lamb representing the Lord Jesus Christ)
    • as having been slaughtered (killed, slain being the sacrificial offering) and the evidence of his slaughter was still there,
    • having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven spirits of God which were apostled
      • into all the earth (every part of it);

...and the little lamb came and took the book from the right hand of God Who is sitting down on the throne.

The usage of the word "little-lamb" when referring to the Lord Jesus Christ by John emphasizes the viewpoint of the man (Jesus) carrying out God's requirements during his life, including his sacrifice and his resurrection, in order to reach and attain the victory of redemption and salvation.

When the little lamb took the book - the four living-beings and the twenty four elders fell down in the sight and presence of the little lamb and they sang a new song.

Then John saw and heard a lot of angels all around the throne and the living-beings and the elders saying loudly that the little lamb who was slaughtered, is worthy to take the ability and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

John includes additional revelation regarding what he heard and what the 4 living-beings and the elders did. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 6:1 - 7:8
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 6:1 - 7:8 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation chapters 4 and 5).

As the little lamb, which is representing the Lord Jesus Christ, opens the seals - John sees different pictures, images, etc, (similar to watching a movie, a panoramic view) showing and declaring the various phases of the future implementation of God's wrath as a result of His righteous judgment.

Six seals are opened in close succession - but the seventh seal is not opened until Revelation 8:1 during the great pressure or tribulation of the completing together of the age.

After seeing the effects of the opening of the sixth seal, John saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth (the directions of east, west, north, and south) exerting their forceful-strength holding the four winds. Then another angel told them not to treat the earth neither the sea nor the trees unrighteously - until the slaves of God are sealed on their foreheads. John heard the amount of the slaves who are sealed - a hundred forty four thousands (144,000) from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

  1. from the tribe of Judah - twelve thousands (12,000) sealed,
  2. from the tribe of Reuben - twelve thousands (12,000),
  3. from the tribe of Gad - twelve thousands (12,000),
  4. from the tribe of Asher - twelve thousands (12,000),
  5. from the tribe of Naphtali - twelve thousands (12,000),
  6. from the tribe of Manasseh - twelve thousands (12,000),
  7. from the tribe of Simeon - twelve thousands (12,000),
  8. from the tribe of Levi - twelve thousands (12,000),
  9. from the tribe of Issachar - twelve thousands (12,000),
  10. from the tribe of Zebulon - twelve thousands (12,000),
  11. from the tribe of Joseph - twelve thousands (12,000),
  12. from the tribe of Benjamin - twelve thousands (12,000) sealed.

Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 7:9 - 8:6
    • Heaven

Revelation 7:9 changes to John writing about events which take place in heaven (not on earth as chapter 6 and 7:1-8 above).

Revelation 7:9-17 records what John saw regarding the future outcome for all the people who will be saved by God and by the Lord Jesus Christ (not only the descendants of Israel/Jacob).

Revelation chapter 8 begins with the opening of the seventh (7) seal of the book in heaven by the little lamb which is representing the Lord Jesus Christ. This takes place after the 144,000 people were sealed. John writes that at whatever time the little lamb opened the seventh seal there became silence in the heaven for the length of time of about half an hour.

And an angel stood upon the sacrificial-altar having a golden censer and a lot of incense relative to the prayers of the holy-people. Then the angel took the censer and he filled it from the fire of the sacrificial-altar and he threw it into the earth; and there became thunders and sounds and lightnings and quakes. The time of the completing together of the age, which includes judgment, will occur quickly in response to the prayers of God's people. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 8:7 - 11:14
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 8:7 - 11:14 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation 7:9 - 8:6).

The first 4 angels blew their trumpets which cause effects on one-third of trees and grass, and one-third of the sea including the creatures and the ships, and a star called Wormwood causes the waters to be so bitter as to cause a lot of mankind to die, and one-third of the sun and one-third of the moon and one-third of the stars were affected with respect to light and darkness.

The effects or events following the last 3 angels blowing their trumpets will be especially woeful for the recipients.

The first woe spans from Revelation 9:1-11. The fifth angel blew his trumpet; and John saw a star that has fallen out from heaven into the earth. This star previously fell and it remains in its fallen state - figuratively referring to the devil/satan who was a beautiful angel before he chose to reject the only true God. Also the key of the well of the abyss was given to the fifth angel and he opened the well of the abyss. Smoke came upwards, and darkness, and locusts will affect mankind for five months. The effects of the locusts will not result in death even though those affected will be so tormented that they will seek after death and intensely yearn to die.

The second woe spans from Revelation 9:13 to 11:13. The sixth angel blew his trumpet; and John heard one sound from the horns of the golden sacrificial-altar (on which incense is burned) saying to the sixth angel who has the trumpet that he must release the four angels who were previously bound on the great river called Euphrates. These angels were prepared to kill one-third of the population of mankind (this excludes the 144,000 people who were sealed in Revelation 7:2-8) via the companies of soldiers on horses amounting to 200 million. The people who were not killed at this time did not repent (they did not change their minds from bad to good regarding God and the things of God after re-thinking what God said).

In Revelation chapter 10 John includes information about another angel who was inherently strong and he placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the earth. When the seven thunders made their sound John was on the point of writing those things (John understood what they said) and he heard a voice coming from heaven telling him that he must seal the things that the seven thunders spoke - do not write them.

And the angel whom John perceived standing on the sea and on the earth lifted his right hand into the heaven, and he swore that there will be no more delay for the implementation of judgments - but it will be during the days pertaining to the sound of the seventh angel blowing his trumpet. John includes revelation about the angel giving him a little book and how it affected him.

In Revelation 11:1-14 John specifically writes according to the instructions he received in Revelation 10:11. Also, a reed was given to John by the angel telling him to measure the interior-temple of God, etc - but to omit the uncovered area that is on the outside because it was given to the nations (those who reject the only true God and His son, the Lord Jesus Christ) and they will tread the holy city (referring to Jerusalem on earth) forty two months (42 months = 3½ years).

God will have two witnesses who will prophesy a thousand two-hundred sixty days (1,260 days = 42 months = 3½ years) clothed with sackcloth. Also, if someone intends to treat them unrighteously - fire passes out from their mouth and devours their enemies. At whatever time these two witnesses would bring their witness to its intended fulfilling ending-issue (bring it to its completion)...

  • the wild-animal (the beast described in detail in Revelation chapter 13) will come up out from the abyss and will make war (battle) with them and the wild-animal will gain the victory over them (conquer them)
  • and it will kill them.

However, after 3½ days the spirit of life originating from God went into the 2 witnesses who had died and they stood on their feet. Also, there became a great quake and the tenth of the city collapsed and 7,000 various people were killed in the quake. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 11:15-19(a)
    • Heaven

Revelation 11:15-19(a) records what John saw regarding the events that will take place in heaven (not on earth as Revelation 8:7 - 11:14). The third woe spans Revelation 11:15-19 and chapters 15-18.

The seventh angel blew his trumpet and Revelation 11:15(b)-18 reveal the celebration of the future results of the effects and events that will follow the 7th angel blowing his trumpet.

There became a great sound in the heaven saying...

  • "The kingdom of the world (the ordered-arrangement that God created but which the first man Adam gave to the devil as recorded in Genesis chapter 3)
  • became the kingdom of our Lord (referring to the only true God)
  • and of His Christ (God's son who is the Anointed-one, the Messiah),
  • and God will reign as King over His dominion (God will exercise His kingship, being the Royal Ruler of the ones reigning as kings including the Lord Jesus Christ)
  • into the ages of the ages (for eternity, forever)."

And the twenty four elders in the sight and presence of God who are sitting down on their thrones fell down flat on their faces and worshipped God. Also, the interior-temple of God in the heaven opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 11:19(b)
    • Earth

There became lightnings and sounds and thunders and quakes and large hailstone.

  • Revelation 12:1-12
    • Heaven

Revelation 12:1-12 records what John saw regarding the events that take place in heaven (not on earth as Revelation 11:19(b)). These verses continue to reveal the full scope of redemption and salvation that is written in the stars and the constellations.

A great sign (a large sign in magnitude) was seen in the heaven...

  • a woman (the sign of Virgo which is the first constellation representing God's people who are part of fallen mankind from whom the savior of mankind would be born, the promised seed of the woman; refer to Genesis 3:15)
  • clothed with the sun, and the moon's location is underneath her feet....

And there was seen another sign in the heaven...

  • a great fiery-red dragon (the word "dragon" is used to emphasize the massive scope of activity of the devil/satan; the sign of Draco temporarily taking a high position but is thrown out from heaven and its head stepped on by Christ destroying it; refer to Genesis 3:15 and Revelation 20:2)
  • having seven heads, and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems....

And the dragon stood against the woman to devour her child. And the woman brought forth a son (referring to Jesus the Christ) who is on the point of shepherding all the nations within the sphere of action of an iron rod. And her child was caught-away towards God and towards His throne (the Lord Jesus Christ is now seated at the right-hand side of God's throne). And the woman fled into the desert where she has in that area a location prepared by God for the purpose and result that there they may nourish her for a thousand two-hundred sixty days (1,260 days = 42 months = 3½ years).

Also, a war came to pass within the heaven (it did not happen on earth). John writes some details of this war in the heaven:

  • Michael the archangel, and his angels, went for the purpose of having a war with (he came to cause a battle against) the dragon,
  • and the dragon warred and his angels (they fought back against Michael and his angels)
  • and the dragon was not strong nor was their place yet found in the heaven,
  • and the large dragon, the old snake -
    • the one who is presently being called devil and satan, who is causing the inhabitants of the world to wander, be led astray -
  • he was cast into the earth, and his angels with him were thrown into the earth.

In Revelation 12:10 and 11 John records what he saw regarding the future celebration of the descendants of Israel/Jacob who will be saved by God and by the Lord Jesus Christ having lived their lives on earth during the wrath. They will celebrate on behalf of their brothers who lived and died during the old covenant times prior to Acts chapter 2.

Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 12:13 - 13:18
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 12:13 - 13:18 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation 12:1-12).

When the dragon perceived that he was cast into the earth (expelled from the heaven) he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male (in this context referring only to the members of God's people who are descendants of Israel/Jacob - Judeans/Israelites). And there was given to the woman 2 wings of the great eagle, for the purpose and result that she would use these 2 wings by flying into the desert to the place that God prepared for her where she is nourished there a time and times and a half of time (for the duration covering specific seasons of time, which are 1 + 2 + half - referring to the 3½ years) away from the presence of the snake (devil).

And the snake tried to kill the woman with water but the earth/land came to help the woman and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon cast out from his mouth. Then the dragon was caused wrath against the woman and he went away to make war against the rest of the seed of the "woman" who represents all of God's people who are part of fallen mankind, specifically those who are keeping the commandments of God and having the witness of/from Jesus.

And the dragon was caused to stand on the sand of the sea (the seashore) and John saw...

  • a wild-animal (a savage beast of prey which is not tamed by mankind; this is the same "beast" referred to in Revelation 11:7, 17:8 and 11)
  • ascending from the sea (specifically it comes out from the abyss below the observed sea)
  • having ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, and on its heads names of blasphemy.

John explains many details about this first wild-animal who is against or anti Christ, although John does not use the words "the antichrist" to describe him in this writing, but it will be an opponent of Christ. However, there are many antichrists during the present time as John indicates in his writings of I John 2:18 and 22, 4:3; and II John 1:7.

During the last 3½ years prior to Christ's coming on earth again, this wild-animal will look as though it were a human-being promoting itself as a great political leader, but in fact it will be a product of the devil/satan taking the place of the human-being who will be the 7th head who will rise to power during the first 3½ years and will be killed. This wild-animal will seem to be a resurrected man but will be similar to the genetically deformed evil beings referred to in Genesis 6:1-7 and Jude 1:6 and 7.

And John saw...

  • another wild-animal (a second beast)
    • ascending from the earth (specifically it comes out from the land, the ground where mankind is living - it is a product of those of mankind working for/with the devil/satan),
  • and it had two horns, and it spoke in comparison to a dragon....

This second wild-animal is the same one also known as the lying/false prophet referred to in Revelation 16:13, 19:20, and 20:10. It promotes itself as a religious leader. And the second wild-animal makes all people so that they would give to themselves...

  • a character-mark (the mark of the beast)
    • on their right hand, or on their forehead,
  • and so that someone would not be able to buy or to sell
  • except the person who has the character-mark, which could either be...
    • the name of the first wild-animal
    • or the number of its name.

The number of the wild-animal is the number of man (a human-being, mankind), and its number six-hundred sixty six (666 - six six six). Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 14:1-5
    • Heaven

Revelation 14:1-5 records what John saw regarding the events that take place in heaven (not on earth as Revelation 12:13 - 13:18).

John saw the little lamb (referring to the Lord Jesus Christ) standing on the mountain of Sion (Mount Zion) and with him are a hundred forty four thousands (referring to the 144,000 people from every tribe of the sons of Israel who were sealed in Revelation 7:2-8 prior to the opening of the 7th seal of the book)...

  • having his name (the Lord Jesus Christ)
  • and the name of his Father (the only true God)
  • written on their foreheads (identifying and designating these people as belonging to God and to the little lamb and living within their authority, ability, etc).

And the 144,000 people sing a new song in the sight and presence of God's throne and in the sight and presence of the four living-beings and the elders. During that period of time no-one had the capability to learn the song except the hundred forty four thousands. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 14:6-20
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 14:6-20 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation 14:1-5).

John saw another angel who was in a flying motion in mid-heaven (the location directly overhead) having the eternal good-message (the gospel, the evangel that is agelong) to preach it to the people who are sitting down on the earth, saying in a great voice...

  • "You must be caused to fear God (be frightened, afraid, fearful of/by Him at the consequences of your performance of any wrong behavior)
  • and you must give glory to Him (give God the importance, splendor, renown)
    • because the hour of His judgment has come (implementing the final deserved sentence against those people who continue to reject Him; refer to Revelation 15:1 - 18:24),
  • and you must worship God Who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters."

This will be the final time that those people who will have continued to reject God up to this point will be given the opportunity to become saved to God, from sin and its consequences, from destruction. They must fear God and worship Him (not the wild-animals and the devil/satan referred to in Revelation chapter 13).

Another angel came saying, "It fell, fell (it collapsed) - Babylon the great (large in importance, magnitude, degree, quality, eminence on earth)...." In what respect was it great?

  • Which gave all the nations to drink from the wine consisting of the rage (the intense passion; refer to Revelation 12:12)
    • of her fornication (the word "fornication" refers physically to wrongful sexual activity or relations, committing pornographic actions as part of idol-worship - but spiritually this is referring to being intimate with the devil and the things of the devil).

John also includes revelation about a white cloud and one sitting down similar to a son of man who harvests the earth, reaping it with a sharp sickle, plus another harvest which is cast into the large trough of the rage of God. And the trough was trodden outside of the city of Jerusalem and blood went out from the trough.

Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 15:1-8
    • Heaven

Revelation 15:1-8 records what John saw regarding the events that take place in heaven (not on earth as Revelation 14:6-20). It corresponds to Revelation 11:15-19(a) when the seventh angel blew his trumpet and prepares for the implementation of the third woe on earth.

John saw another sign in the heaven great and marvelous (astonishing, wonderful and amazing):

  • seven (7) angels having the last seven strokes (the last 7 blows, strikes, stripes - these are the final or extreme strokes of judgment),
  • because within the sphere of action of these strokes being implemented on earth
    • the rage of God will be completed.

John also includes revelation about the people being victorious from the wild-animal and from its image and from the number of its name, etc, plus the fact that they sing the song of Moses the slave of God and the song of the little lamb. After John saw those events, the interior-temple of the tent of the witness located in the heaven was opened and one from the four living-beings gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls (7 broad and flat vials made of/with gold) being full of the rage of the living God into the ages of the ages.

Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 16:1 - 18:24
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 16:1 - 18:24 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation 15:1-8). It records the implementation of the third woe on earth following the 7th angel blowing his trumpet in Revelation 11:15.

Six angels poured out the contents of their bowls and affected the people who were rejecting God in various ways, including the drying up of the Euphrates river for the purpose and result that the way (road) of the kings from the east would be prepared.

And John saw three unclean spirits as frogs coming out-from the mouths of the dragon and the first wild-animal and the lying-prophet (the second wild-animal). These 3 unclean spirits journey on the kings (on the human-beings who rule portions of the earth) to assemble them together with a view to the war (battle) of the great day of God (God's great day when He implements His final judgments) the All-Strong-One.

Even though God's Word is teaching about the power and activities of the devil/satan and his 2 wild animals during the "wrath" period of time – John, by revelation, interjects revelation about what God via the Lord Jesus Christ will do regarding that situation and it will indeed be encouraging to God's people during this time. The Lord Jesus Christ will gather God's people together with him on earth as he prophesied in Matthew 24:27-31; also refer to Revelation chapters 19 and 20.

God's Word returns to the activities of the devil and his 2 wild animals. The 3 devil-spirits assembled the kings of the whole inhabited area together into the place that is being called in the Hebrew language Armagedon (or spelled Armageddon).

And the seventh angel shed forth the contents of his bowl down on the air (where the devil and his devil spirits roam at this time; refer to Revelation 12:7-12) and a great sound went out from the throne inside the interior-temple (from God Himself) saying...

  • "It came to pass and continues to be (it happened; it has become exactly as I said it would come to pass; the final judgment is being implemented)."

Many things occur at that future time affecting the earth and mankind, including Jerusalem and Babylon (the center of idolatry exercising the devil's lie and power). Revelation chapters 17 and 18 provide additional revelation regarding the interaction and fall of the wild-animal and Babylon referred to in Revelation 14:8 and 16:19.

The angel gave John details explaining the mystery of the woman and of the wild-animal that is lifting her up and which has the seven heads and the ten horns. John continues by describing what else happens on earth as a result of the destruction of Babylon, and included in that is the fact that people will no longer be able to buy and sell because the monetary system of the wild-animal will not work anymore. And one angel who was inherently strong lifted a stone as a large millstone and he cast it into the sea saying additional words regarding the fall of Babylon.

  • Revelation 19:1-16
    • Heaven

Revelation 19:1-16 records what John saw regarding the events that take place in heaven (not on earth as Revelation 16:1 - 18:24).

After the things already described in this writing, John heard as a great sound of a crowd of people in the heaven praising God because of the destruction of Babylon. The effects on the physical city of Babylon will cause corresponding effects on those interacting with her, including the city of Jerusalem. The effects on the spirit realm associated with the city of Babylon, which is the devil/satan/serpent's realm of operation, will also cause corresponding effects on that spirit realm.

The twenty four elders and the four living-beings fell down and worshipped God Who is sitting down on the throne. And a sound from God's throne went out telling others to praise God. Then John heard as a sound of a big crowd praising God and he details the words used.

The angel who was revealing this revelation to John says...

  • "You must write:
  • happy are the people who have been called (invited) and remain on the invitation list
  • into the meal of the marriage celebrations (wedding festivities)
  • pertaining to the little lamb (referring to the Lord Jesus Christ)."

The angel also told John to worship God and then John saw the heaven open and a white horse and the one sitting down on the horse (referring to the Lord Jesus Christ) being called the believer and true-one, and in righteousness he judges and wars (he actively battles, makes war).

John writes additional information regarding the rider of this white horse including the fact that on his thigh is a name that has been written: King of kings and Lord of lords. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 19:17 - 20:15
    • Earth

The details written in Revelation 19:17 - 20:15 pertain to effects or events taking place on earth as a result-of and corresponding-to the previous events which took place in heaven (refer to Revelation 19:1-16). It records the completion of the final judgments being implemented on earth following the blowing of the 7th trumpet with its 7 bowls.

John perceived the wild-animal (referring to the first wild-animal which came out from the abyss) and the kings of the earth and their companies of soldiers which had already been assembled together (refer to Revelation 16:12-16) for the purpose of making the war against the one sitting-down on the horse (against the Lord Jesus Christ) and against his company of soldiers.  What was the result of this war?

  • The wild-animal was apprehended and the lying/false prophet which had done the signs in the sight and presence of the first wild-animal,
  • these had caused to wander the people who had received the character-mark of the wild-animal and the people who are worshipping its image
    • the two (2) of these wild-animals were cast alive into the lake of the fire of the burning in sulfur;
  • and the rest of the people who were fighting in this battle against the Lord Jesus Christ and those with him
    • were killed by the sword of the one sitting-down on the horse, specifically the sword having come out from his mouth,
  • and all the birds were fed from their fleshes.

The events described in this chapter correspond to many of the constellations - especially the sign of Leo which is the last/final one completing the pictures in the heavens written by God.

Revelation 20:1-3 continues with the effects of this war in relation to the spirit-beings opposing the Lord Jesus Christ and those with him. John saw an angel strongly holding the dragon - specifically referring to the old snake, who is the devil and satan. Then the angel bound the dragon for a thousand years (1,000 years, a millennium) and cast him into the abyss and he shut and sealed the abyss over him for the purpose and result that the dragon would not still cause the nations to wander until the thousand years would be completed.

And John saw thrones and the people on the thrones had received their judgment. They were resurrected at this time from death as a result of being beheaded because of the witness of Jesus and because of the word of God. These people did not worship the wild-animal nor its image and they did not receive the character-mark on their forehead and on the hand. They will sit on thrones and reign as kings with the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth for 1,000 years. This resurrection described in Revelation 20:4 is the first resurrection.

But when the thousand years would be completed satan will be released out from his prison (the abyss), and he will exit for the purpose of causing the nations to wander in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, for the purpose of assembling them together into the war (the final battle that satan will organize against the Lord Jesus Christ on earth).

What happened? Fire descended out from heaven (fire came down from God) and devoured them (not allowing anyone to escape)...

  • and the devil was cast into the lake of the fire and sulfur (brimstone - the unquenchable fire which will burn all those against God),
    • where also the wild-animal and the lying-prophet were cast (refer to Revelation 19:20 - these 2 wild-animals will never exit because they will be completely destroyed by the lake of the fire and sulfur),
  • and they will be tormented (tortured) without any interval until everything associated with the devil's spirit realm, including the devil and his devil-spirits and his 2 wild-animals, will be completely destroyed.

John next saw a great white throne and God sitting down on it, from Whose presence the earth and the heaven fled and a location was not found for them (referring to the end of the present earth and heaven as we know it today, the end of the world).

John saw the dead-people standing in the sight and presence of the throne and books were opened and another book was opened which is the book of the life. The dead-people were judged from the things which were written in the books in accordance with their works (which they did during the time when they were alive and living their lives prior to their death). Death and gravedom were cast into the lake of fire, and if someone was not found written in the book of the life he was cast into the lake of the fire, thereby receiving the second death, complete destruction by burning in the lake of the fire.

  • Revelation 21:1 - 22:5
    • New Heaven and New Earth

John records information regarding the new heaven and the new earth - together. He saw...

  • a new heaven and a new earth (replacing the former heaven and earth),
  • for the first heaven and the first earth went away (those in existence today),
  • and the sea is not still on earth where it was before.

And John saw the holy city -  new Jerusalem...

  • descending from heaven from God,
  • prepared as a bride having been orderly-arranged (ornamented, adorned) for her adult-male (the grown-man to whom she is promised, the bridegroom who will be her husband after the marriage).

John heard a great sound originating from the God's throne saying that the tent of God will be with mankind (human beings). God also said that He makes all new-things.

John writes many other details regarding God and the lake burning with fire and sulfur, and the bride who is the woman belonging to the little lamb (representing the Lord Jesus Christ). Also, the angel revealed to John details about the holy city - Jerusalem which descends from heaven from God - including that the wall of the city having twelve foundations, and on them are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the little lamb.

John includes additional details regarding this city and the fact that he did not see an interior-temple within the new Jerusalem on earth - why not? - in truth, the Lord God, the All-Strong-One, is the interior-temple of the new Jerusalem on earth, and including the little lamb (referring to the Lord Jesus Christ who is with God).

Revelation 22:1-5 shows some similarities and differences between the original mankind in his environment (refer to Genesis chapters 1-3) and the new mankind in his new environment which will be the Paradise of God that will exist again on earth. This includes revelation about the river of water of life (the living water) and the tree of life (the living wood) making twelve fruits in accordance with each month, and the leaves of the tree are for therapeutic treatment of the nations.

Also, the throne of God and of the little lamb will be within the city of the new Jerusalem on earth and God's slaves will render-service to Him. Complete details are provided in the Study Guide of the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Revelation 22:6-21
    • Conclusion

John next writes the conclusion of this book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Revelation 22:6-21 corresponds to Revelation chapter 1.

This book is open to be read by all since it was first written by John in the first century. Everybody should know what is written in this book which reveals the outcome of all that God and the Lord Jesus Christ will accomplish in fulfillment of God's original promise regarding the Christ as recorded in Genesis 3:15.

John writes words that he hears, including words from God - the supreme ruling King to Whom all others will be subject following the Lord Jesus Christ finishing his tasks relative to what is recorded regarding mankind (refer also to I Corinthians 15:23-28 and Revelation 21:1 onwards).

Then John writes words that he hears from the Lord Jesus Christ...

  • "Emphatically I Jesus sent my angel (refer to Revelation 1:2)
  • to witness these-things (the revelation of events, etc, pertaining to and proceeding from me; refer to Revelation 1:1 and 2)
    • to you (plural pronoun - all of you), emphatically on the churches (Jesus sent his angel to witness this revelation to John so that John would then witness this revelation to the churches; refer to Revelation 1:4, 11, 20, and chapters 2 and 3).
  • Emphatically I am the root and the genus (the decent, kind, race, class, lineage) of David (King David; refer to Revelation 5:5),
    • the star, emphatically and specifically the shining star, the early star (the star that shines early in the morning, signifying the beginning of the new day for mankind)."

The Lord Jesus Christ also says...

  • "Yes (with definite affirmation),
  • I come quickly (I am coming with speed, swiftly - so as to implement what is written in this book)."

And John responds in agreement:

  • "With-certainty (amen, surely, truly!),
  • you must come (it is imperative that you are coming),
  • Lord Jesus."

John began this writing with grace, and he closes it by expressing his prayerful desire:

(May) the grace of the Lord Jesus (be) with all-people.
